Bosch 16H - Frequently Asked Questions
If your hot water is not so hot, or goes hot and cold, or simply gives luke warm water, chances are you may have an issue with the hot water unit or even the plumbing at your property. At Plumbdog, we are known as the Top Dogs when it comes to servicing and maintaining hot water systems.
We would much rather repair and maintain a hot water system. This saves creating unnecessary waste in landfills and keeps more money in our customers pockets. When necessary, if we do recommend a new hot water system, we can also recommend whether a like for like replacement is sufficient or our Pedigree Plumbdog is more than happy to work out with you which system is best to replace with or if an upgrade is required.
Just like a car, your hot water system needs regular servicing – not just for optimum performance, but also to minimise the likelihood of a breakdown, which we all know can happen at the worst times.
One of the most common causes of water heater failure is blocked pilot tubes, where spider webs can obstruct the flow of gas.
Thermocouples, which ensure the gas valve remains closed when the system is not in use, have limited service life and must be periodically replaced. Other common problems are blocked line strainers, faulty ignition packs and faulty solenoids.
Regardless of the age or type of system installed, we recommend having it serviced at least once every two years by one of our fully qualified Plumbdog hot water plumbers. To ensure maximum life of your unit, you should also replace its sacrificial anode as part of regular servicing.
We have made the decision that we will not give a ‘free quote’ over the phone. With years of experience servicing our loyal Plumbdog clients, we know that no two properties are the same and we really need to visit your property to inspect in order to give an accurate estimate along with options and long term solutions rather than to simply give a dirt cheap price over the phone. Doing this leads to unhappy customers when prices increase because there is more to the job than the eyes can see.
Did you know that a simple ‘like for like replacement’ is often not just a like for like job? If you have searched around, you would see other plumbing companies showing the new piping jobs required because of ‘cheap and nasty workmanship’ previously completed. Hot water systems which are not installed to current code also means that hot water systems may need to be relocated or even the electrical work with regulations updated for your safety.
How we work is, we will send our trusted Plumdog to your property to inspect and have a chat to understand your needs and hot water issues. Inspecting and understanding more about your property and plumbing setup will minimise any unexpected expenses which often the other mongrels lack to mention until half way through the job when they hit you up with an unexpected problem costing you more.
The way we work at Plumbdog is a little different to others. We don’t bury call out fees, service fees or booking fees in our pricing estimates. We simply charge you the price of the job.
When you call us to book your technician, your customer service representative will schedule you an appointment with one of our technicians in a 4 hour time window at a mutually agreed upon time.
Our plumber will message you or call you when he’s on his way to your property so you’re not peering out the window like a lost puppy.
When he arrives on site he will have a chat with you about your plumbing issues and then return to his van to put an estimate together for the work you require.
He will present the estimate to you and if you are happy to proceed, your plumber will have you sign the estimate and he can usually get started on your job straight away.
We are top dogs when it comes to hot water systems, servicing and maintaining but there are occasions where we will need to consider installing new hot water systems and with new systems also comes some terms and conditions. Please see terms and conditions here
